THE UNITED WAY AND SCOUTING

We partner with several United Way and United Fund organizations throughout our 25-county area who support Scouting’s mission and vision. We are grateful to have received Greater Twin Cities United Way support for our programs for over a century.

ue to evolving priorities and a significant reduction in available funds, the Greater Twin Cities United Way has greatly reduced its support for Northern Star Council, with $625K in cuts to date and further reductions in 2018. The Greater Twin Cities United Way plans to focus more intensively on school achievement for low-income youth only, and is phasing out support for several community organizations in the youth/education focus area. This leaves Northern Star Council with a large funding gap that we will seek to fill through the generosity of the community and our Scouting family.

Many donors choose to give through both our annual giving campaign, called “Friends of Scouting”, as well as through a United Way campaign. Some supporters choose to designate their United Way gift to Northern Star Council. We are grateful for our partnerships and support from all donors and the following United Way organizations in 2017.
