Mom Applauds Program for Kindergarten-Age Boys
Last year, mom blogger Emily of Busy Mommy discovered firsthand how much fun Scouting can be for the whole family when she and her son were introduced to Scouting for the first time through a local Cub Scout Fun Day day camp.
Today, Emily looks back fondly on the experience, marveling at the mission of Scouting and how the program benefits children in a way that exceeds the reach of just participating in sports.
“I have four boys who all are involved in sports, but the Scouts provides a different experience that will shape their character into well-rounded young men,” Emily shared. “Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives.”
Emily also discovered something new about Scouting that she encourages other parents to explore for their younger boys – the Lion program, BSA’s new pilot program designed for kindergarten-aged boys.
“Do you have a son who is five years old or in kindergarten? The new Lion program is in response to the growing number of parents looking for age-appropriate after school adventures for kindergarten-age boys,” explained Emily.
Although Emily’s son is Cub Scout-aged, Emily urges parents of kindergartners to consider the Lion pilot program so they can experience the joys of Scouting, too – but now even earlier than before!
