Hold Your JTE Guidepost 1 REVIEW AND REFLECT MEETING by Apr 20, 2017
Greetings Unit Commissioners!
It’s that time of year again where we begin planning for Journey To Excellence 2.0 (JTE). Guidepost 1, Review and Reflect, has a completion date of April 30, 2017. That means you must contact your units and arrange a time to meet with the Unit Leader and Committee Chair to talk about their program this past year and to look forward to next year. As with any good reflection, you should talk about the program successes and those things that did not work out as planned and ways to improve upon them.
Northern Star Council has again prepared resources for us to use in the Review and Reflection. I have placed all JTE documents in the link “Resources for the Commissioner” in the “Commissioners” tab under “District – Admin” on the Lake Minnetonka District website homepage.
Please look over the documents “Instructions for Unit Commissioners” and “Unit Commissioner Tips for a Successful Reflection”. These documents help to explain the process and the rules we should follow in order to have a successful reflection meeting. The past membership numbers mentioned in the document will be provided to you at a later date or sooner if needed.
The emphasis has changed this year slightly. It is recommended that the main discussion focus on three topics: Program Quality, overall membership in the unit, and Webelos retention. (In Crews and Teams, you can change the last item to overall member retention.) If there are other topics that the units feel are more important, please let them direct the discussion.
Please become familiar with the Pack, Troop, and Crew Reflection guides for the type of unit(s) you support. Provide your Unit Leaders and Committee Chairs with the documents “Pack Reflection – Instructions for Leaders”, “Troop Reflection – Instructions for Leaders”, or “Crew Reflection – Instructions for Leaders” depending on the type of unit(s) you support in advance of your meeting.
Start planning your meeting dates now so that they are completed well in time of the deadline. Please log your completed meeting in the “JTE2.0 Guidepost Reporting System” also located on the “Resources for the Unit Commissioner” page. The direct link is:
