Glowing Ember Award Nominations Remain Open Until Apr 22, 2018 – District Award Nominations And Upcoming Recognition Dinner

To all of the Leaders and Parents in Lake Minnetonka District,

First, a big THANK YOU to all who submitted the nominations for our district awards! It’s awesome to see and hear about the great work happening in Scouting in our units.

The deadline for nominations was this past Sunday at 10am. Sunday afternoon, the District’s nominations committee met yesterday to review all of the nominations and had a tough time narrowing the list down for the Position Specific Awards and the District Award of Merit, given all great work going on. All nominations for these awards were “blinded”, removing the names of the nominees, before being sent to the nominations committee. The nominations committee has sent the results to me and I will be sharing the outcomes with each nominator.  All nominees deserve a round of applause!

Given that the Glowing Ember Award is selected by the Unit and that we have received several requests, we will re-open nominations for the Glowing Ember Award only until midnight on Sunday, April 22nd.

Glowing Ember AwardThe ‘Glowing Ember Award’ is presented to those parents and leaders who during the past year have given that extra bit of enthusiasm, which is so much a part of a successful pack, troop, or crew program. The Glowing Ember is selected by the Unit and awarded from the District. Each UNIT COMMITTEE should select ONE INDIVIDUAL (parent or scouter) FROM THEIR UNIT to receive the District’s ‘Glowing Ember Award’ at the dinner. This is a great way for the unit to provide special recognition to a deserving scouter.

Thank you all for your hard work this year. I hope to see all of you at the District Dinner on May 3rd where we will recognize our adult leaders and celebrate that “Volunteers are a Treasure!”.
