Cub Scout Fall Recruitment

Yard Sign

With all the changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, everyone is wondering about Fall Recruitment. While there are many questions that cannot be answered at this time, pending decisions yet to be made by the Governor and other State leaders, our District is committed to working together to recruit many new Cub Scouts this fall. Here is some important information to help you plan for an effective recruitment campaign.

Turn Almost Anything Into a Recruitment Event: This is a booklet that has just been completed by our District and distributed to all our packs. There is a lot of helpful content so read through it carefully and share it with your pack leaders.

School Open Houses: It is unclear if these will be held in August. Stay in touch with your school and get permission to participate. We recommend that you also plan to utilize alternative recruiting venues such as Next Door or Facebook.

School Night for Scouting: The date for SNFS is September 24. We have already made facility reservations at all the public elementary schools covered by our packs. If schools are not available, we will explore with our packs the potential use of chartered organization parking lots or similar locations where we can conduct our School Night event.

Recruitment Materials: The Council will hold Curb-Side Kick-Off Events at multiple locations on August 6 and August 11. You can go to the location most convenient for you. You will receive a Recruitment Packet, Recruitment Materials (yard signs, posters, special recruitment bookmarks, Cub Scout water bottles, t-shirts, and fall day camp voucher). You will also receive Popcorn Packets and Annual Membership Registration/Renewal information. If a pack is not able to send anyone to one of the locations, we will deliver all the items to your Committee Chair shortly after August 11.

Need Recruitment Materials Sooner? Contact Jim Bollback, our District Executive, and he will see that they are delivered to you.

Special Recruitment Materials: Special unit-specific flyers or postcards can be prepared for your pack to use in your recruitment as a supplement to the general materials (many of which focus on the School Night for Scouting event). Contact Jim Bollback, our District Executive [email protected], to arrange to have these prepared and printed.
