WEBELOS TRANSITION

JOINING A SCOUTS BSA TROOP

Welcome to a new year!  With a new year comes exciting new opportunities, adventures, and Scouting experiences, including transitioning from your Pack to a Scouts BSA Troop!

Scoutmasters should have received a Transition Form in the mail- this will help in identifying which Cubs will be transitioning to their Troop. If you did not receive a Transition sheet, you can print one out by clicking the button below.

Webelos Transition Sheet

As always, to join a Troop, a Scout must be in one of the following categories:

  • Completed 5th grade and is at least 10 years of age
  • Earned Arrow of Light Award and is at least 10 years of age
  • Is at least 11 years of age

Scouts that meet this criteria and are currently registered with a Pack can now transfer, at no charge, to the Troop of their choice!

If the Scout is not currently registered with a Pack then they should register as a New Scout in the Troop using this link: https://scoutingevent.com/250-2021_2022MembershipFees

RECRUITMENT

Troops should be reaching out to their local packs to invite Webelos (4th AND 5th graders) to visit or join them for an activity.  These activities can happen year round to help strengthen your Pack-to-Troop relationship.  Second-year Webelos leaders should be thinking about finishing up Arrow of Light requirements and start planning crossover ceremonies. Over the next few weeks, several communications will be going out to Webelos, Cub Leaders and Troop Leaders about the crossover process.

An outdoor program opportunity for both Scouts BSA members and Webelos is being designed for the weekends of May 13-15 (at Stearns Scout Camp) and May 20-22 (at Phillippo Scout Reservation).  The program will feature a camporee-style environment with plenty of opportunities for all ages. Webelos will have the opportunity to attend alongside a Troop with which they have an existing relationship or be paired-up by event organizers. Please note that the “Recruitoree” name may exist alongside “Webelos Woods” as the new program plan is developed in early 2022.  The underlying aim of both programs, regardless of the name, will still be to introduce Webelos to the Scouts BSA program.
