675 Attendees

2016_gph_fall-uifs-highlight_600x400Over 675 people attended the Fall University of Scouting held at Osseo High School on October 29, 2016. Leaders chose a class schedule from over 100 classes like Unit Budgeting, Camping Tips and Tricks, Leader Specific Training, First Aid, CPR, Working with Scouts with Disibilities just to name a few. Those attending certainly came away better prepared to lead Scouts and families through our exciting program. Here are a few event highlights:

  • 80 Youth leaders attended various classes to further their leadership skills
  • 52 New Cub Scout Leaders received the Position Specific and Youth Protection training
  • 177 Scout Leaders attended required training for their registered position
  • Our event “Good Turn” secured 21 units of blood for Memorial Blood Centers
  • Overall ratings for the event scored a 4.5 out of a possible 5 points

Thank you to Osseo High School for hosting the event, and Lauren Johnson-Naumann for serving as Chancellor. An event of this magnitude could not have been pulled off without the countless hours selflessly given by Super Hero Deans – Matt Markham and Jessi King-Markham, Tracy Schnagl, and George Strickland. Special thanks to the University of Scouting committee of heroes who helped out in so many ways- Brian Reiners, Charles Wangerin, Laurie Johnson, Dina Boie, Jim Foster, and Jon Lentsch. A special thanks to Noel Sagness for helping with Midway set up. Finally a big thanks to our instructors who volunteered to share their expertise this Fall. Thank you all for making this event possible!
