VENTURE CREW 370 – THE PLACE FOR YOUNG WOMEN SEEKING REAL ADVENTURE!

Since 2009, Venture Crew 370 has helped many young women, ages 13+, by providing the values of the Scouting program; to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the Venturing Oath and Code — and quenching their thirst for adventure along the way!

Venture Crew 370 is truly girl-led. The adults try really hard to sit back and allow the young women to learn how to plan and run their own events, which allows the girls opportunities to learn more about leadership. That said, there’s always at least two BSA trained adults, always one or more female adults, and sometimes one or more male adults on trips.

The crew really revolves around having fun while camping, hiking and once a year taking a high adventure trip. Even though this is an all-girl crew, it doesn’t mean they don’t like boys, they just keep it simple, just girls. The monthly activities often involve preparing for the next campout or high adventure trip, learning more about how to prepare to camp and hike safely, and sometimes on BSA advancement. But usually it’s all about an unusual bunch of girls that just get together to have fun.

If you like to hike and camp — or don’t know, but think you might — you’re in the right place. Monthly campouts mainly center on adventures in Minnesota State Parks. They go rock climbing at Interstate State Park by Taylor’s Falls, backpacking at Gooseberry Falls, practice orienteering at Nerstrand Woods State Park, canoe on the St. Croix River at St. Croix State Park and Wild River State Park. They’ve learned winter camping skills at Afton State Park, and explored caves at a private area in southern Minnesota. They usually go shooting at the Waverly Gun club (on ladies night) most every year.

On high adventure trips over the past seven years, the Crew has hiked The Bob Marshall Wilderness, canoed in Canada’s Quetico Provincial Park, hiked the Porcupine Mountains of Michigan, climbed Angels Landing in Zion National Park, sailed the Apostle Islands, backpacked in Isle Royale National Park and hiked rim to rim in the Grand Canyon.
