SPOOKY-REE — coming Oct 2-3 and Oct 9-11

Spooky-Ree is a Family Camp experience like no other! Come to Stearns Scout Camp or Phillippo Scout Reservation for a scary-good time. We’ll scare your socks off while you play games, eat smores, learn camp skills, shoot BB guns, and more! Camp will begin Friday evening and operate through Sunday morning. All program has been designed around MN Dept of Health Guidelines for 2020.

The popular Spooky-Trail is a fun opportunity to have some spooky fun with your pack. Highlights from 2019! Ride along cowboys, at Camp Stearns we’ll have ponies and we’re keeping Trunk or Treat! And, for the first time ever, Spooky-Ree was expanded by one location –  to Phillippo Scout Reservation.

ADVANCEMENT

Spooky-Ree is designed to be an activity based program instead of advancement based. Scouts will not complete adventures during the scheduled activities. There will be time during the weekend for the pack to organize their own rank advancement activities if desired.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

2020 fees are below.

  • Cub Scouts $30
  • Siblings age 5-11 $15
  • Adults $10
  • Siblings 4 and under FREE

IS FOOD SERVICE INCLUDED?

You may choose to cook your own food or eat in our dining hall. If you choose to cook your own food, a propane stove can be provided by request. Meal Service plans begin Saturday morning with breakfast and end Sunday morning with breakfast.

Meal Plan Options (NEW IN 2020):

  • All meals for weekend (Dine-In): $20 per person
  • Ala Carte (Ala Carte): $6 per person per meal

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO CAMP?

Spooky-Ree is a full weekend event. Make sure you are prepared for an entire weekend away from home. Use this checklist as a baseline as you get packed.

  • Sleeping Bag
  • Warm Layers (October can be cold in Minnesota)
  • Rain Gear
  • Flashlight
  • Eating Utensils and Cooking Supplies (If cooking in your own campsite)
  • Closed-Toed Shoes
  • Water Bottle
  • Toiletries
  • Halloween Costume!
  • Thermometer and hand sanitizer

WHAT FORMS DO I NEED TO BRING TO CAMP?

Each participant must have a completed BSA Medical Form (Parts A and B only- all participants) and the Minnesota Shooting Sports Waiver (youth only). Additionally in 2020, each participant will need to bring a completed Participant Health Screening Checklist when you arrive to camp.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HAVE DIETARY RESTRICTIONS?

We try to provide healthy and safe meals for every participant. Please be sure to note on your registration any dietary needs or health concerns at least 1 week prior to the start of camp. Typically we are prepared to accommodate vegetarian, gluten free, lactose free, and peanut/nut free as long as we have enough notice prior to the event.
