Scouts Rake Leaves for Seniors in Their Community
Whether it’s an Eagle Scout project, Scouting for Food, or something as simple as raking leaves, Scouts all over the United States regularly engage in community service projects.
The Scouts in Naperville, Illinois, have just committed their time and energy to be part of a large community service project to help the senior citizens of Naperville. Over the next few weeks, Scouts will be out in force, raking leaves for seniors who do not have the ability to get out and do that for themselves.
It’s a basic, simple kindness, but it’s a big part of what Scouting is all about. Each Scout has a goal to do a good turn daily, and Scouts in this community will be doing just that.
To make the process smooth for everyone in the city, the Scouts are working with a local group that focuses on serving the needs of seniors. The Senior Task Force, Naperville Park District, and the local Boy Scouts are joining forces to provide this service to seniors.
Those seniors who feel that they don’t have the mobility to rake the leaves in their yards have been encouraged to contact the city, who will connect them with a Scout unit that will arrange a time to come rake the leaves.
The Scouts are providing all tools and supplies necessary to rake the leaves for the seniors.
