Mike Johnson Named Florida Sea Base General Manager

mike-johnson-sea-baseMike Johnson has been selected as the next general manager of the Florida National High Adventure Sea Base, where he began his Scouting career.

As assistant director of program from 1989 through 1992, Mike helped establish programs during the early years of the Sea Base. He went on to become district executive and field director at the Indianhead Council in St. Paul, MN, followed by stints as assistant director of field service and director of development at the Heart of America Council in Kansas City, MO.

In 2005, Mike was named Scout executive of East Carolina Council in Kinston, NC. Since September of 2008, he has successfully served as Scout Executive in the Quivira Council in Wichita, KS, working with volunteers, donors, and board members to achieve capital fundraising and construction goals, grow camp attendance, introduce new camp programs, and grow traditional membership.

“Since it was founded in 1980, we have been fortunate to have strong leadership and vision at Sea Base, resulting in a range of aquatics programs found nowhere else. Mike will continue this outstanding tradition,” said John Green, group director of National Adventures.

Mike is an Eagle Scout, and as a youth served as the OA’s Southern Region Chief.

He and his wife, Julie, have two boys: Noah, who is a freshman at Butler Community College and is a starting freshman on the football team, and Matthew, an Eagle Scout who is a senior at Kansas State University.
