District Co-Commssioners Appointed

While assessing the requirements for the open position of District Commissioner, Patti Czech and I have decided to take a different approach and assign two individuals to fill the role of District Commissioner. One individual will focus on the administration of the Commissioner program and the other individual will focus on operations including communications, roundtable, training, and activities. In order to successfully implement this approach, the two individuals must have a history of working together to achieve goals and objectives.

I am happy to announce that Lake Minnetonka District has recruited two individuals who have worked together at the Unit level and who are looking forward to working at the District level with the Assistant District Commissioners and the Unit Commissioners to deliver a quality commissioner program to Lake Minnetonka District. The new District Commissioners are George Hidding and Mike Aase.

Mike was associated with Pack 391 in Chaska - Guardian Angels Catholic Church where he was Cubmaster for the past 3 years with high energy, professional manner, and consistency keeping focus on best practices for our youth, community, and families. He also served as a Den Leader, Assistant Den Leader, Webmaster of the Pack?s website, and served on the Camping Committee. Mike is an advocate for trained leaders, mass recruitment, and a strong supporter of district and council activities. Mike and his son are active with Troop 589 in Chaska.

George became active in scouting in 2004 when youngest son requested to join a wolf den, then assisted the den leader, hosting den meetings, and after volunteering to grab the paperwork for recharter, George was hooked, started as the Chartered Partner between Pack 391 and Guardian Angels Catholic Church, assistant den leader and several Pack activities. George also has a knack for being detailed-orientated, a perfectionist, and a team player. George was also the Membership chair, camping committee for the Pack and Friends of Scouting administrator with 98% participation. George and his son are active with Troop 303 in Chaska.

George will be responsible for administering tasks assigned to the commissioners from the Council, such as, rechartering, Centennial Quality Unit program, inventory, etc. George will also be responsible for facilitating the monthly Commissioners Meeting preceding the monthly roundtable meeting.

Mike will be responsible for working with the ADC and Unit Commissioners to resolve issues at the Unit level. Mike will also be working with the roundtable staff to ensure continued growth in unit participation.

Since the BSA only allows for one name to be formally assigned as District Commissioner, George Hidding will be designated as the District Commissioner and Mike Aase will be designated as Vice Chair ? Commissioner Operations. However, whenever possible, George and Mike will attend all council and district events as Co-District Commissioners and will be members of the District Key-4.
