Fall 2016 and Winter 2017 Wood Badge Course Offerings

Wood Badge: An Experience Benefiting All Leaders

Wood Badge is the premier training for adult leaders in all Scouting programs and provides experiences with team development and leadership. The course is structured to include some classroom instruction, but is primarily activity based. Activities included patrol and troop games, problem-solving challenges and fun!

Participants see the patrol method in action by following a typical path from being a Cub Scout to Boy Scout and finally as a Venturer. They will interact with a patrol by cooking, camping and working together. Wood Badge provides leadership tools for leaders in their professional, personal and volunteer lives. It provides strong Scouting values and a framework for an ideal troop. It recharges leaders and sparks new ideas and friendships through connections outside of individual units and across the council.

Participants will work a ticket as part of the Wood Badge program that offers opportunities to practice service to self and others. The tickets are developed with support from the course staff and need to be completed within 18 months. The recognition for this accomplishment include the Wood Badge neckerchief, woggle and beads.
