Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation — offered this Oct 19th
Northern Star Scouting is offering BALOO training for Cub Scout leaders from all districts this fall! NOTE: Training will no longer be offered at University of Scouting, because the new BALOO program requires an overnight camping trip.
When: Saturday, October 19, 2019 9 AM through Sunday, October 20, 2019 11 AM
Cost: $30 per person (includes meals)
Where: Phillippo Scout Reservation Cannon Falls, MN
BALOO training covers topics from health and safety to the logistics of planning and running a successful camping trip for your unit. Along the way, you’ll learn about meal preparation and camp cooking (including hands-on Dutch oven cooking), camping gear selection, water safety, and campfire program planning. You’ll also get to learn group games, skits, and songs, and practice traditional scouting skills like pocketknife use and safety, map and compass, knot tying, hiking, outdoor ethics, and first aid. You get a BALOO patch too!
The 24 hour course includes an overnight camping trip with participants sleeping in tents (BYOT- bring your own tent!) 3 meals are provided as part of the course. There is also an online prerequisite component to this course. Detailed info will be emailed to enrollees after registration.
